Missions
The Advisory Council on Policy Coherence for Development was established in April 2014. It is governed by the official decree of April 2, 2014, related to the establishment of an Advisory Council on Policy Coherence for Development.
This official decree defines the various missions of the Council.
This Council’s primary mission is to provide advice to the Belgian federal authorities in order to promote Policy Coherence for Development in accordance with Article 208 of the Lisbon Treaty and Article 8 of the legislation initiated on March 19, 2013, related to Belgian Development Cooperation.
The Advisory Council on Policy Coherence for Development is also responsible for the missions of:
Responding to the demands of the Ministry of Cooperation and Development on federal measures in the related field and competency that affects developing countries;
Implementing proposals that can further the work of the Inter-Ministerial Conference on Policy Coherence for Development;
Advise the government and the Belgian authorities responsible for Policy Coherence for Development, at their request, with implementation of the recommendations on coherence of policies for the development of international forums or on the positions that Belgium aligns at international meetings;
To decide, at the request of a member of the government concerned, the impact assessments regarding the consistency of policies for such developments, as provided in Chapter 8, Article 31 of the legislation enacted March 19, 2013, related to Belgian Development Cooperation.
